Young Screenwriters gives young people the opportunity to work with professional screenwriters, authors, storytellers and filmmakers to explore the techniques of story development and screenwriting and to produce their own screenplays and films. The aim of Young Screenwriters is to inspire and enthuse young people about writing for film and help develop and expand their literacy skills.
I was asked to set up a low cost website that the project could easily update themselves. The site had to be able to host video, scripts, a newsletter and be visible to Google. The project works in phases so an intense period of activity is followed by a dormant time. The content added following intense activity acts as both the project archive and as an appetite sharpener for the next cohort of young screenwriters.
YoungScreenwriters.com was built using WordPress, a custom theme and video feeds through Vimeo. It is maintained by the project on an ongoing basis.
